I’m not a huge sports fan, but since the Summer Olympics 2012 (27 July to 12 August) is in session, why not get in on the action.
On Wednesday, 1 August, we were lucky enough to catch the Singapore vs Japan Olympics Bronze Medal game for the Women’s Singles Table Tennis on TV channel 5. And even more fortuitous and exciting to watch Singapore’s representative, Feng Tian Wei bag the first medal for our sunny nation.
If you’re like me and a bit clueless, here’s a great app to have on your iPhone – the Official London 2012 Results app which provides all the latest news, schedules, and results of the Olympics. It is super user-friendly, offers at-a-glance information, and even sorts the number of medals won by sports and individual athletes.
According to the app at the time of this posting, the major winners are United States of America and China with 43 and 42 medals won by each respective countries. American swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte are leading with five medals each. You can read more about the design of the medals on the app itself.
I’m signing off now to watch the Beach Volleyball match between China and Russia!
