I have always had curls in my hair. Back in my school days, I sported a pageboy cut. Whenever, my hair grew long, my mom had it cut short, remarking flippantly that the Singapore weather was too hot for long hair. Being a tomboy, I was fine with that. But the short hair cut only made my curls more pronounced. So much so that a vice-principal would consistently single me out and insist that I straighten my curly locks. She would wag her finger at me and admonished me for perming my hair (much to my confusion)!
Today, I keep my hair long. Yup, that particular vice-principal has forever traumatised me from short boyish hair forever. My young daughter had inherited long, thick beautiful dark locks of hair from her father and me . And yes, unfortunately curls as well.
Combing her long tangled hair took hours! Ok, I am exaggerating here, but it does take some time. We have learnt that the best time to comb her hair is right after her bath. Still, it was not without tangles and her teary eyes and subdued “ouches” admonishes me with every comb of her hair.
I would buy different combs/brushes that promise to detangle her hair. And finding the right conditioner was also an exercise of trials-and-errors. Some general condition were too mild and did nothing to untangle the knots in her hair. Others were too rich and weighs down her hair making it flat and listless. Plus, I wanted something that was safe for kids.
And I am happy to say that I found it. Original Sprout, with its natural and organic ingredients, is safe for my child’s skin and offers a professional solution to her hair-care needs. Plus, the product range is uniquely free from synthetic hormone disruptor (really important for pre-teen kids), sulphate and Paraben. It does not use Lavender and Tea Tree Oils, Phthalates, Clove or Musk. It is 100% vegan –i.e. NO Soy, Gluten, Honey, Peanut or Dairy (for kids sensitive to these).
Original Sprout products smell nice as it uses only parfum with natural extracts. For those who are firm supporters of green living and animal rights, you will be happy to know that Original Sprout products are environmentally responsible and bio-degradable and are not tested on animals.
Many Hollywood celebrity moms and hairstylists such as Kate Hudson, Jorja Fox, Chris McMillan, Brooke Shields and Tori Spelling have already given their stamp of approval on this California based family brand.
Founder Inga Tritt combined her experiences as a master stylist and a mother with real life experience with her daughter, Maya, to produce this range of products. Original Sprout was Inga’s answer to a gap in safe hair care products in the market that could cater to her newborn’s thick hair without wreaking havoc to her sensitive skin. Let Maya tell you their story of Original Sprout.
The shampoo smells wonderful and it was lathers well on the head. When the shampoo got close to her eyes, it does not make her tear. After the shower, it was easier to comb through her hair – no tangles at all. Best of all, her hair smells wonderful and feels soft and luscious to the touch. The verdict from me and my daughter: a hefty thumbs up for Original Sprout. This IS the shampoo I have been praying for!
We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. A few days after using Original Sprout’s shampoo, her thick wavy hair feels soft and luxurious to the touch. AND it smells wonderful…
